It's a solid game, but the cash shop kills the experience for me.

You balanced the game so each player almost has to use the cash shop. Most of the missions require the player to buy at least one item. While you can buy the equipment you need without the cash shop, it takes a ridiculous amount of grinding, and you're usually over-leveled by the time you can actually buy it.

For me, the best option is quitting. Grinding ends up being a Sisyphean task, and using the cash shop to buy the equipment and quest items i need to continue the game leaves a bad tate i my mouth.

robscherer123 responds:

You don't need the cash shop to complete ANY missions. Every mission can be completed without the cash shop. Also, none of the entire top 10 players in the game used the cash shop to get where there are at now.

It's every RPG ever

I actually love this game from a conceptual standpoint; frankly, it's a caricature of every RPG. This is exactly what any RPG would be if all the story were ripped out. Essentially it boils down to the mindless grinding cycle, i.e. killing monsters so you can get money and level up to progress more floors and fight more monsters and so on. When you inevitably lose, you want to do it again to see if you can do any better the second, or even third time around.

If you designed your game specifically to critique RPG's, then I would have gladly rated this much higher. However, it seems incredibly doubtful that it was intentional, which makes it an incredibly bland and boring game.

AwokerR responds:

I think your rating is unfair! D:

Good concept

I liked the concept, and the animation was fairly good. Unfortunately, the "puzzles" were entirely too easy. That being said, it would have been an amazing game for small children.

It's all Drew's fault

I hadn't even heard of ska until I listened to Drew's time slot on Blade Radio; I actually think this was the first song I heard him play. Long story short, I'm now hooked on Ska and am ecstatic to find out that you guys are here on Newgrounds. Other than fawning praise I only have one thing to say: the weather in northern Indiana is worse than Ohio's weather.

HyruleanHyroe responds:

Lol, well then, you should hear our song 'Hurricanes and Tidal Waves,' found on our myspace. It's about the whole midwest! :P

But it's AWESOME to hear not only from one of Drew's listeners, but from a budding Ska fan. FANTASTIC!

The more I stare at these two, the more impossible Maya's spine looks. Backs just can't bend that far backwards; a vertebrae would be breaking every time Lilith gyrates into Maya.

The contrast between how you handled their bodies and their clothes really piqued my interest. I think it's a good way to call attention to their bodies without making them completely nude. They almost seem more naked because they are partially clothed.

As a side point, Maya's expression kind of made me laugh; I can't tell if she's aroused or just annoyed.

Hyptosis responds:

Haha awesome, I was sort of going for that since I don't like that she's essentially replacing Lilith :P

I dig the more complicated pose you chose for the woman in the back; frankly, I almost want to see her by herself. It isn't that the other figure's pose is less interesting, but more that she leads your eye out of the composition. Which isn't helped by the curvilinear lines in the background; lead your eye out of the picture just as much, if not more than, the front woman.

The women themselves are, for the most part, really well rendered. My complaint is with each of the women's hair. Honestly, their hair is the first thing I noticed; the saturated colors you used in the hair contrast greatly with everything else in the picture. By itself, that isn't a bad thing; it's a great way to create focal points. Unfortunately their hair isn't as well rendered as the rest of their bodies, which breaks the realism found in the rest of each figure.

That isn't to say that I don't like the picture; I just kept getting pulled out of the picture or too distracted to appreciate how well rendered each of the figures are.

I'm really loving the sense of movement throughout the entire picture, but specifically in her body. The shading is awesome; I like the whole fire/ energy theme you have going on. Anatomy-wise I only have a couple complaints: her left foot seems a bit big and her right hand is a bit less realistic than her left. It kind of looks like the fingers on her right hand are made of noodles.

Overall, though, I really like this piece. The composition and color choice are great, and, apart from the things I pointed out about the anatomy, the figure is really well made.
